Record allocation of higher vocational training for AcadeMedia

AcadeMedia’s Higher Vocational Training business has been awarded a record number of training programs for the fall of 2019. In total 71 planned training programs have been awarded, which is an increase of 29 compared to last year. This was made clear yesterday following an announcement from the Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education.

The Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Training aims to increase the number of students with 45 per cent – from around 30 000 to 44 000 by the year of 2022.

This year’s round of awards has prioritized three areas; civil and constructional engineering, production technology, as well as data/IT. This is reflected in the allocations for AcadeMedia where Teknikhögskolan, EC Utbildning and Hermods expand the most. Also, The Game Assembly which offers training in gaming development in Malmö increases is programs from five to 15 this fall and will start in two new locations, Stockholm and Umeå.

- Large efforts are being made within higher vocational training in Sweden and it is very rewarding that with are given the confidence to be part of this expansion. Higher vocational training is an important and valuable form of education to society and this allocation means that AcadeMedia can continue to serve several industry sectors with required competence, says Christer Hammar, head of AcadeMedia’s Adult Education segment.

The awarded programs vary in length, from one to three years. The allocation enables AcadeMedia to gain market shares within higher vocational training. The financial benefits will only be realized after students have been recruited to the programs.
