Mellby Gård increases its holding in AcadeMedia

“The decision felt natural. We want to be part of building Sweden into an even stronger knowledge nation”, says Johan Andersson, CEO of Mellby Gård.

AcadeMedia operates throughout the education system, from preschool to adult education and is northern Europe's leading independent education provider.

Marcus Strömberg, CEO of AcadeMedia:
“The family company Mellby Gård has shown great commitment and drive since they became an owner last spring. It is great that they now choose to take even greater responsibility for developing AcadeMedia, thereby contributing to an improved education system in Sweden. It is also very good with an owner who meets the requirements for a long-term approach, that virtually all politicians are demanding”, he says.

In connection with the re-listing of AcadeMedia on the Stockholm Stock Exchange June 15, 2016, Mellby Gård acquired just under ten percent of the shares. They were also given an option to acquire an additional just over ten percent, an option which they are now exercising.

“After working closely with AcadeMedia for more than eight months, I have become more and more impressed with the company. All parts of the business are joined in a common conviction that quality pays off in the long run as well as a genuine desire to contribute to a positive development of society”, says Johan Andersson, CEO of Mellby Gård.

Mellby Gård acquires the shares from EQT. Harry Klagsbrun is a Partner at EQT Partners and a board member of AcadeMedia.

“Mellby Gård has a long-term, entrepreneurial-driven culture. We and Mellby Gård share the desire to support AcadeMedia's vision of being an international role model in terms of quality, performance and innovation in its various educational and training activities”, he says.
